How crypto portfolio protection works

Protecting a crypto portfolio doesn't have to mean selling your assets. Here's the simple idea, in plain language.

  1. Add your wallet (read-only)

You connect or add a public wallet address so we can see your assets. We never take custody, and we never ask for your private key or seed phrase.

  2. See what can be protected

We show your portfolio and which assets currently have protection available.

  3. Choose your protection level

Pick 30/50/70/100% (or a custom level) per asset or for your whole portfolio.

  4. Track everything in one place

See your portfolio, your protection, and the combined result on your dashboard.

What is protection, in simple terms?

When you hold a token, its value can fall. Protection is a way to cover a portion of that exposure on a derivatives market, so a drop in the asset can be offset — while your assets stay in your own wallet. It's a way to reduce the downside without selling.

What coverage means

Coverage is the share of an asset's value you choose to protect. For example, if you have $10,000 of an asset and choose 70% coverage, the target protection is about $7,000 of that exposure. Coverage is a decision about how much to protect — it's separate from the collateral the protection may require.

You keep ownership

Your coins stay in your wallet. We only read your public address. We never ask for a seed phrase, private key, or permission to move funds.

Selling versus protecting

Selling removes your exposure to the asset entirely. Protection tries to keep the downside covered while leaving your asset in place, so the upside can still run. They're different tools for different goals.

What Gain Protect does

Gain Protect is an optional setting. If your asset rises, it can move your protection level up with it, so part of a gain can be preserved. It's a preference you configure — protection still needs to be activated before anything is actively working.

Which assets can be protected?

Only assets for which a hedge instrument is available can be protected. Anything else still appears in your portfolio and your overview, but isn't currently available for protection. We always show which is which.

Is my portfolio and protection being tracked for real?

We compare your baseline position to current values. If a deposit or withdrawal makes an exact number unavailable, or a live protection status isn't reported yet, we say so rather than inventing one. Nothing is claimed to be active before the protection engine confirms it.
